|
Nyama Choma, a Kenya Feast, is a fundraiser held each fall by Expanding Opportunities to raise funds for the Street Children Project. Attendees have the opportunity to taste Nyama Choma, fresh goat roasted on an open fire; Ugali, a staple food of Kenya; and Kenyan Chai with tea from Kericho and more. The Gardens at the Joseph Waweru Home School Catherine Sanders, the long term volunteer for Expanding Opportunities has worked very hard to establish the raised bed gardens at the Joseph Waweru Home School. Her efforts were rewarded with abundant produce and community interest in composting and intensive gardening. As Catherine's time is nearing a close, she has been training Karanja, a young Kenyan to carry on her work. Expanding Opportunities will send Karanja to a course at the Biointensive Agriculture Center near Kisumu. Everyone pitches in this time of year to get the second planting in the ground before the rains. |
