Raphael and the Headmaster

A wonderful first day wish

A donor desired to assist a child with school fees. Raphael's father died leaving his mother, younger brother and himself at home. His mother sells her produce but does not earn nearly enough money to pay for Raphael's education. He was not allowed to start his third year of high school. Expanding Opportunities hired him to assist with the creation of the gardens and his story unfolded. When the donor desired to educate a child, Raphael was the natural recipient. In this photo, Raphael is meeting a new headmaster and completing the paperwork to start school that day. He was a very happy young man. Catherine Sanders, Pastor Joseph Waweru and Raphael pose on the steps of his new school on his first day. Raphael started late in the first term but performed well. In addition to attending school Monday through Friday, he elected to study on Saturday for 1/2 day as well. The remainder of Saturday he works at the Joseph Waweru Home School to earn money for his family.
