Undesignated funds are often used for those unexpected needs that we come across during our stay in Kenya.

Job is a 9 year old HIV positive orphan. He was struggling with several physical complications when we found him in March. After thorough testing, medication was started and he began to improve. Expanding Opportunities located a donor who would provide funding so Job coulod have adequate housing, a caretaker to assist with his medical appointments, proper nutrition and other daily needs. He is living near his grandmother and Uncle so they can continue to provide him the love and emotional support he needs. Job has thrived in his new situation. He is enrolled in school. His health is stable. He has gained 12 pounds and grown several inches since April. Thanks to donors who give undesignated funds and to the couple who regularly support Job, he now has HOPE for the future. For over 20 years, the medical staff in Kenya have been treating HIV positive children. These children have grown strong and healthy. They know how to care for themselves and accept the responsibility of their disease. They have been given life, hope and a future. |
| Sho sho is an elderly widow who lives on the top of a knoll in a fertile, rural village. Though arthritis twists her joints, she still carries her water on her back up hill and down. She turns her soil with a small hoe, plants and harvests. This is the second year we have assited Sho Sho with a few staples. Though a proud anmd independent woman, she accepts our gifts of food and respect. | |
