Increasing self-sufficiency through educational and charitable projects for people nationally and internationally.
Expanding Opportunities is a non-profit organization dedicated to expanding educational and societal opportunities for people nationally and internationally. Currently, the focus of service is in the developing country of Kenya, Africa. Founded in 1999, the organization has six main projects:
- The Street Children Fund
- Books for Kenya
- Friends Across the Ocean
- Distance Learning Centers
- STEMS (Success Through Education, Money and Support)
- Aina Moja
A small governing board guides the projects of Expanding Opportunities. The board consists of nine members with the following designated positions:
President/Chief Executive Director, Beverly G. Stone
Vice President/Assistant Chief Executive Director, Julie M. Watkins
Treasurer, Amy Grant
Secretary, Audrey Lawson
The Board meets bi-monthly to direct the operations of the organization and to discuss fundraising strategies and the progress of the projects.
