Our Boys

The eldest, Emmanuel

Vincent

Emmanuel is the eldest at the Joseph Waweru Home School. He completed an apprenticeship with a barber and hopes to begin earning money through cutting hair. Vincent is Emmanuel's brother. He is enrolled in Mangu Primary School.

Collins

Kamau

Collins is enrolled in Mangu Primary School. He, along with Emmanuel, Vincent, Kamau and Kiplangat, were the original five boys adopted into the family from Kericho.

Kamau is also enrolled in Mangu Primary School. He has developed his skills as a gymnast on his own. We are so pleased with the progress of our boys.

Kiplangat

Paul

Kiplangat is also enrolled in Mangu Primary School. Having practically no educational history, Kiplangat is now able to communicate in English. Paul joined the Joseph Waweru Home School in 2004. He is a hard worker and pleased to have a new home.

John

Samwel

John joined the Joseph Waweru Home School in 2004. Having been recently orphaned, he adjusted well and is working hard in at the Mangu Primary School. Samwel is Paul's brother and the youngest member of the Joseph Waweru Home School. He attends the Mangu Primary School also. Samwel hopes we complete the building and find support for more children so he won't be the youngest anymore.

Pastor Waweru

Mama Mwangi

Meet the kind, gentle loving parents at the Joseph Waweru Home School. Pastor Joseph Waweru is the country representative for Expanding Opportunities and the father of the boys at the Joseph Waweru Home School. He is respected by the boys and community members and well loved by everyone. As hardworking Pastor of 6 churches, natural father of 5 adult children, and active community member, he is a wonderful role model for the boys. Theresa, or Mama Mwangi as she is affectionately called by all who know and love her, is mother of the boys at the Joseph Waweru Home School. She is completely and utterly confident in her ability to run a household, manage a garden and livestock, care for her husband and the congregations he serves and raising a second family of children who are now her own. The boys have found in Mama the love and nurture they need to grow into strong, loving men.
