Books for Kenya
Enhancing educational materials in Kenyan schools.
The Books for Kenya project collects used textbooks from schools in the U.S. Some of the used books are shipped to Kenya and some are sold through a web site. The profit from the sale of the books is used to purchase Kenyan curriculum.
Distance Learning Centers
Establishing distance learning centers via satellite-linked centers.
DLC seeks to develop a solar powered, satellite linked learning center which provides basic literacy, vocational and post-secondary education to local communities in Kenya.
Aina Moja
Selling African crafts and art to support African artists.
Aina Moja is a business venture developed as a means to assist the mission of Expanding Opportunities through the sale of African crafts and artwork created by African artisans. Sale of these items supports the struggling artists of Kenya, Africa. The word Aina Moja is Kiswahili and means “one of a kind”. Each item is hand crafted and therefore one of a kind.
Street Children Fund
Providing food, shelter and education to homeless chilren.
The Street Children Fund has established a home for 3-4 homeless children in Kericho, Kenya. These children are living under the supervision of an adult, eating regular meals, receiving medical attention, and attending a vocational school to learn life skills. Many, many more children need assistance.
