Increasing self-sufficiency through educational and charitable projects for people nationally and internationally.
Street Children Fund
In 1996, Beverly Stone came to Kenya with a program called Teachers for Africa. For a year, Bev taught science at Tengecha High School in Kericho, Kenya. After returning to the United States, Bev realized that she could never forget the poverty and desperation that she'd seen Kenyans living with. She was determined to help. So in 1997, with the help of Pastor Joseph Waweru, an African whom Bev met during her time in Kericho, Bev started a feeding program for street kids. Once a week, the Pastor would gather the homeless boys who lived in Kericho's central park and take them for a cheap meal at a local restaurant. Watch a slideshow about the street childen Pastor Waweru took into his care.
In early 2001, Expanding Opportunities established a home in Nakuru, Kenya for five street boys, ages 10-14 years. The boys had been living on the streets of Kericho for over a year.

In 2003, Expanding Opportunities began construction of a permanent home for these boys: The Joseph Waweru Home School.
Since then, several more boys have been added to the home school's family, bringing the total to 12 boys from the ages of 4-18. Construction continues until the Home reaches accomodation for 32.
As there are so many more street children in Kenya than Expanding Opportunities could hope to house, it continues provide regular meals to street boys in Kericho, Kenya. It also has programs to encourage them to take responsibility for themselves by giving them opportunities to contribute to the local community.
