In early 2001, Expanding Opportunities established a home in Nakuru, Kenya for five street boys ages 10-14 years. The boys had been living on the streets of Kericho for over a year. The boys are now living in a rented house with a supervisory adult, eating regular meals and attending school.

Four of the five boys have progressed enough in their education to pass onto the next grade level. One boy will remain at the current grade level for another year. Money for renting the home was raised through private donations. More funds are needed to continue to support the children in their new home and to expand the services to assist more of the street children. The goal is to build a home so more street children may have a place to live and be able to attend school.

Help Us Build a Permanent Home
The Force for Good Foundation has presented the organization with a hopeful challenge. They have offered a grant of $10,000 to build a permanent home/school. The grant is contingent upon Expanding Opportunities raising matching funds. This grant would allow the organization to accept more of the boys and provide a location to teach them reading, writing, math and a vocational skill. It is the goal of the Street Children Project to provide a home-like, mentoring atmosphere where the children can grow and learn to be contributing members of their society.

Expanding Opportunities has accepted the challenge and is seeking to raise a total of $14,000. Ten thousand dollars ($10,000) as a match for the grant and $4,000.00 for the full annual support of the project as it is now. We are inviting you to participate in this exciting challenge.
